Mole & Lesion Removal

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Surgical removal of moles, warts, cysts, and skin lesions by a specialist dermatologist using shave removal or excision, with histological analysis available for atypical lesions.

Assurance Skin, Laser & Aesthetics performs specialist surgical removal of benign and potentially atypical skin lesions, including moles (melanocytic naevi), sebaceous cysts, dermatofibromas, skin tags, viral warts, and other growths. All procedures are performed by Dr. Wong Soon Tee, whose training and experience spans both clinical dermatology and dermatological surgery. Before any removal, Dr. Wong conducts a dermoscopic assessment of the lesion using a handheld dermatoscope, allowing magnified visualisation of pigment patterns, vascular structures, and architectural features that differentiate benign from potentially malignant lesions. Lesions with any atypical features are referred for excision with adequate margins rather than superficial removal. Two surgical approaches are used depending on lesion type and depth. Shave removal (tangential excision) is appropriate for raised, pedunculated, or superficial lesions such as papillomatous naevi, skin tags, and seborrhoeic keratoses. The lesion is removed flush with the skin surface using a surgical blade, and the wound heals by secondary intention with minimal scarring. Excision with sutures is used for deeper lesions, suspected atypical naevi, or lesions requiring adequate surgical margins. The wound is closed with absorbable subcutaneous sutures and non-absorbable surface sutures where needed. All excised tissue can be sent for histopathological analysis at an accredited Singapore laboratory, providing a definitive pathology report confirming the diagnosis and adequacy of margins. Histology is recommended for any lesion with clinically atypical features, a changing appearance, or uncertainty on dermoscopy. Post-procedure wound care instructions are provided, and a follow-up appointment for suture removal (if applicable) and scar assessment is scheduled. Patients are advised on sun protection to minimise post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation at the treatment site.
