Duration

2 hours

Surgical breast augmentation using silicone or saline implants to increase breast volume, restore fullness after pregnancy or weight loss, and improve symmetry. Performed by Dr. Brooke R. Seckel MD FACS at Emerson Hospital's Clough Surgical Center in Concord, MA. Implant selection, incision site, and pocket placement were customised to each patient's anatomy and goals during a pre-operative consultation. The practice closed in September 2023.

Breast augmentation at Boston Plastic Surgery Specialists was performed by Dr. Brooke R. Seckel, a board-certified plastic surgeon with fellowship in the American College of Surgeons and an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. The procedure uses implants — silicone gel or saline-filled — to increase breast volume, correct asymmetry, and restore projection that may have been lost following pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuation. During pre-operative consultation, Dr. Seckel assessed chest wall dimensions, existing breast tissue, skin envelope laxity, and the patient's aesthetic goals to determine the optimal implant profile (low, moderate, or high), base width, projection, and volume, as well as incision approach (inframammary, periareolar, or transaxillary) and pocket placement (subglandular, submuscular, or dual-plane). All surgeries were performed at Emerson Hospital's Clough Surgical Center, a JCAHO Gold Seal-accredited facility, under general anaesthesia. Post-operative recovery typically involves a surgical bra, activity restriction for four to six weeks, and gradual return to full physical activity. The practice also offered breast implant revision surgery for patients experiencing complications or aesthetic concerns with previous augmentations, as well as breast asymmetry correction combining augmentation with mastopexy or reduction techniques as indicated. Boston-area market pricing for breast augmentation at the time of the practice's closure ranged from approximately $8,000 to $12,000 all-inclusive. The practice closed permanently in September 2023 when Dr. Seckel retired after 41 years.
