Cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty including septoplasty to correct deviated septum, reduce nasal hump, refine tip, and improve nasal symmetry. Medicare rebate may apply for eligible functional cases. By Dr Marcus Pyragius MBBS FRACS on the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia.

Rhinoplasty at Coastal Institute of Plastic Surgery is performed by Dr Marcus Pyragius, a FRACS-credentialled specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon, to reshape the nose for aesthetic or functional improvement. Cosmetic rhinoplasty addresses concerns including nasal hump removal, tip refinement and definition, width reduction, asymmetry correction, and post-traumatic deformities — producing a nose that is more harmonious with the patient's overall facial features. Functional rhinoplasty combined with septoplasty corrects a deviated nasal septum that causes chronic nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, snoring, or sleep-disrupted breathing. Where clinically documented nasal obstruction is present and a valid referral is obtained, a Medicare rebate may reduce the patient's out-of-pocket cost. Open rhinoplasty (through a small external incision at the base of the columella) provides optimal access for complex reshaping, while closed rhinoplasty (entirely internal incisions) is suitable for less extensive corrections. All rhinoplasty procedures are performed in an accredited surgical facility on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The recovery period involves nasal splinting for one to two weeks and mild swelling for several months, with final results visible at 12 months post-operation. A detailed pre-operative consultation with Dr Pyragius is recommended to discuss goals and review before-and-after imaging.
