Coco Ruby Plastic Surgery in Hawthorn East, Melbourne, offers a comprehensive suite of breast surgical procedures under the care of Dr Geoffrey (Geoff) Barnett MBBS FRACS — one of Australia's most experienced specialist plastic surgeons with over 35 years in clinical practice and more than 5,000 cosmetic surgical procedures to his credit. Dr Barnett is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and holds membership with the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). Breast augmentation is performed using anatomical or round implants placed in the sub-muscular or sub-glandular plane, with prosthesis selection determined at consultation based on chest wall dimensions, existing breast tissue, and the patient's aesthetic goals. A transaxillary (underarm) approach is also available for patients who prefer no visible breast incisions. Breast reduction addresses macromastia — disproportionately large breasts that cause back pain, shoulder grooving, skin irritation, and postural difficulties — by resecting excess glandular tissue and skin and repositioning the nipple-areola complex to a natural height. Mastopexy (breast lift) corrects ptosis — downward displacement of the nipple and breast mound with excess skin — without changing implant volume, often using an anchor (Wise pattern) or vertical scar technique depending on the degree of ptosis. Implant removal and revision surgery addresses capsular contracture, implant rupture, size change, or malposition in patients with previous augmentation. The clinic also performs mummy makeovers — a combination of breast and body procedures typically including augmentation or lift with abdominoplasty — in a single operative session for eligible patients. All procedures include comprehensive pre-operative assessment and post-operative follow-up. Hospital, anaesthesia (~$400–$800 per hour), and surgical assistant fees apply in addition to the surgeon's fee; patients are advised that Medicare does not fund purely cosmetic breast procedures.
