A single in-office session lasts 30–45 minutes and delivers immediate visible results, making it ideal for patients with busy schedules or upcoming events. The take-home kit uses a lower-concentration peroxide gel (5–18%) applied via custom-fitted bleaching trays prescribed by the dentist. The daily application schedule of 40–60 minutes over 14 days achieves comparable results to the in-office method while allowing the patient to whiten at their own pace. Both whitening approaches work by breaking down stained molecules in the enamel and dentine using oxygen radicals, lightening the overall tooth colour without damaging the tooth structure.
