Medical Chemical Peels

Type

Chemical Peels

Duration

45 min

Medical-grade chemical peels using glycolic, salicylic, lactic acid, or TCA formulations to resurface the skin and improve tone, texture, acne, pigmentation, and fine lines. Peel depth ranges from superficial (no downtime) to medium (up to seven days recovery). Administered by clinical staff. Sun protection is mandatory post-treatment.

Medical chemical peels at Dermatologie am Kudamm Berlin Dr Eva Valeske use controlled acid application to the skin surface to induce deliberate, calibrated exfoliation of damaged epidermal cells and stimulate dermal renewal. Unlike over-the-counter skin products, medical-grade chemical peels are applied at clinical concentrations that penetrate more deeply into the epidermal and dermal layers, producing a more significant and lasting improvement in skin texture, tone, and quality. The clinic offers a range of peel formulations appropriate to different skin concerns and tolerance levels. Superficial peels using alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid (derived from sugarcane) or lactic acid (derived from milk) dissolve intercellular bonds between dead surface keratinocytes, accelerating the natural exfoliation cycle and exposing the fresher, brighter skin layer beneath. These peels produce minimal post-treatment flaking over one to three days with essentially no social downtime, making them suitable for first-time patients and ongoing maintenance. Beta-hydroxy acid peels using salicylic acid penetrate into follicle openings, dissolving sebum and comedonal plugs that contribute to acne and congestion, and are the preferred choice for oily, acne-prone skin types. Medium-depth peels using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) at higher concentrations produce coagulation of epidermal proteins and penetrate into the superficial dermis, triggering a more robust wound-healing response with new collagen synthesis, and are associated with more visible improvement in fine lines, moderate pigmentation, and mild acne scarring. Recovery from a TCA peel involves peeling and shedding for five to seven days. All peels at the practice are preceded by a skin assessment and followed by prescribed post-peel care, including broad-spectrum sunscreen, which is essential to protect the newly sensitised skin and prevent post-inflammatory pigment changes. Located in the Kurfürstendamm district, one of Berlin, Germany's most medically active corridors, the practice serves patients from across the city and internationally.
