Radiofrequency Microneedling (RF-Microneedling)

Type

Microneedling

Duration

1 hour

Radiofrequency microneedling at Dermatologikum Hamburg combines insulated microneedle delivery of RF energy into the dermis to treat skin laxity, wrinkles, acne scars, burn scars, stretch marks, hyperhidrosis, and chin or neck laxity. Sessions run up to 60 minutes with 1–3 days of redness. Results become visible from 6 weeks and may last 1.5–2 years.

Dermatologikum Hamburg's radiofrequency microneedling (Radiofrequenz-Microneedling) programme delivers bipolar RF energy directly into the dermis via a matrix of insulated microneedles, bypassing the epidermis to concentrate heat-generating current in the target tissue layer. The insulated needles prevent energy deposition at the skin surface, protecting the epidermis while achieving controlled thermal coagulation zones in the dermis and upper subdermal tissue where structural collagen fibres reside. These thermal microlesions trigger a fibroblast-mediated wound-healing response: growth factor release, collagen and elastin neosynthesis, and progressive tissue remodelling over the 6–12 weeks following each session. The breadth of indications at Dermatologikum reflects the technology's versatility: for facial use, the device addresses skin laxity on the cheeks, chin, and neck, wrinkles and fine lines, acne scarring, and burn scar remodelling; for body use, it treats stretch marks and hyperhidrosis of the axillary area, where RF energy delivered to the sweat glands causes a structural reduction in sweat production. Sessions at the Hamburg clinic run up to 60 minutes and are performed with topical or local anaesthesia as appropriate. Post-treatment findings include 1–3 days of mild to moderate redness and micro-oedema, which can typically be concealed with makeup by day 2. Visible improvement in skin texture and laxity becomes apparent from 6 weeks as collagen matures, with continued benefit developing to the 3-month mark. Results are associated with lasting approximately 1.5–2 years. A course of 3–5 sessions at 4–8 week intervals is recommended to achieve the full cumulative remodelling effect. This treatment is offered within the specialist Aesthetic, Laser and Plastic Surgery division at Stephansplatz 5, Hamburg, Germany.
