Dr. Salomon's South Miami med spa offers laser hair removal for long-term reduction of unwanted body and facial hair. Laser energy targets the melanin in hair follicles, and multiple sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart are required to address hair across its different growth phases. Common treatment areas include the legs, underarms, bikini line, upper lip, chin, and back. The number of sessions needed varies by hair color, skin tone, and treatment area.

Laser hair removal at Dr. Jhonny Salomon's South Miami med spa offers a long-term approach to reducing unwanted hair on the face and body. The treatment uses selective photothermolysis — laser energy calibrated to target the melanin pigment in hair follicles without heating the surrounding skin to damaging levels. Absorbed laser energy converts to heat within the follicle, disrupting the follicle structure in a way that may impair or prevent future hair growth from that follicle. Because laser energy targets melanin, the treatment has historically been most effective for patients with darker hair and lighter skin, where contrast is highest. Modern laser platforms have broadened the range of skin tones that can be safely treated, though a consultation is important to determine the appropriate device settings and realistic expectations for each individual. Hair grows in cycles — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Laser treatment is only effective during the anagen phase, when the follicle is actively producing a hair shaft connected to the papilla. Because only a fraction of follicles in any given area are in the anagen phase at any one time, multiple treatment sessions are required to address all follicles. Most patients require six to eight sessions to achieve a significant, lasting reduction in hair density. Sessions are spaced four to eight weeks apart, depending on body region and the patient's hair growth cycle. Common treatment areas at this practice include legs (full leg, lower leg, or upper leg), underarms, bikini line and extended bikini, upper lip and chin, back and shoulders, chest, and forearms. Each session is preceded by shaving the treatment area. Most patients describe a mild snapping or heat sensation during treatment. Mild redness for a few hours post-session is typical. Sun avoidance and SPF use are recommended both before and after treatments to reduce the risk of post-treatment pigmentation changes.
