Dr. Michele Green offers PRP facial rejuvenation as both a standalone injectable treatment and as an adjunct to microneedling — a combination commonly referred to as a PRP microneedling session. The facial PRP protocol follows the same blood-draw and centrifugation process used for scalp PRP: a small volume of blood is processed to isolate the platelet-concentrated plasma fraction, rich in growth factors including PDGF, EGF, VEGF, and TGF-β. When used as a standalone facial treatment, the PRP is injected intradermally or subdermally across the face — targeting areas of volume loss, fine lines, and textural irregularity — where the growth factors stimulate local fibroblast activity, promote collagen and elastin synthesis, and support angiogenesis in the dermal microvasculature. When combined with microneedling, the PRP is applied topically over the skin immediately following microneedling; the thousands of micro-channels created in the epidermis by the needles allow the growth factor concentrate to penetrate into the dermis far more efficiently than topical application alone, maximising the biostimulatory signal delivered per session. The combined protocol is associated with improved texture, tone, and reduction in fine lines over a series of three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
