Thermage FLX is the latest generation of the Solta Medical Thermage monopolar radiofrequency skin-tightening platform, available at Dr. Michele Green's Upper East Side clinic. Thermage FLX delivers monopolar RF energy from a vibrating handpiece through the skin surface and into the deep dermis and fibroseptal layer beneath the subcutaneous fat. The RF current causes resistive heating of collagen-containing tissue: collagen fibres denature and contract immediately when heated to their denaturation threshold (approximately 65–70°C), producing a visible tightening effect during the session itself; over the following weeks and months, the sustained thermal stimulus triggers fibroblast activation and the production of new collagen and elastin fibres, progressively improving skin firmness, smoothness, and contour. The FLX tip counts the treatment pulses and accelerates delivery compared to older Thermage CPT devices, reducing session time. The vibrating handpiece provides simultaneous sensory distraction during pulse delivery, improving comfort without requiring topical anaesthesia for most patients. Thermage FLX is most commonly used for facial skin tightening — addressing jowl laxity, nasolabial fold softening, and overall mid-face and lower-face lifting — as well as neck tightening and body applications on the abdomen, thighs, and knees.
