Dr. Rohrich performs abdominoplasty at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute to address excess abdominal skin and weakened abdominal muscles, typically following significant weight loss or pregnancy. The procedure removes loose skin, tightens the rectus muscle fascia, and recontours the abdominal profile. Commonly combined with liposuction of the flanks and waist. Mini-abdominoplasty and body lift variants are also available depending on patient anatomy.
Abdominoplasty — commonly referred to as a tummy tuck — is performed at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute by Dr. Rod J. Rohrich to restore a flatter, firmer abdominal contour in patients who have excess skin or separated abdominal muscles that cannot be corrected through exercise alone. The procedure is frequently sought after pregnancy, significant weight loss, or as part of a broader body-contouring plan following bariatric surgery. Dr. Rohrich's abdominoplasty technique addresses three anatomical concerns in a single procedure: removal of excess skin from the lower abdomen, repair of diastasis recti (separation of the rectus abdominis muscle pair), and repositioning of the navel to a natural anatomical location following skin excision. The incision is placed low along the bikini line to remain concealed beneath underwear and swimwear. For patients with moderate laxity only in the lower abdomen, a mini-abdominoplasty with a shorter scar may be appropriate. For patients undergoing significant weight loss body contouring, a body lift that extends the incision around the entire circumference of the trunk may better address flanks, hips, and lower back simultaneously. Liposuction of the flanks and lateral waist is commonly performed at the same time as abdominoplasty to improve the overall silhouette and achieve a more dramatic waist-to-hip ratio improvement. Fat harvested during the liposuction component can, in select cases, be transferred to the buttocks. Recovery from full abdominoplasty typically involves a drainage period of one to two weeks, limited activity for four to six weeks, and avoidance of strenuous exercise for six to eight weeks. The on-site Dallas Day Surgery Center and the Cloister post-operative recovery facility are both available to patients undergoing this procedure, offering continuity of care in a private, medically supervised setting within the same building at 9101 North Central Expressway.
