Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Surgical and laser mole removal performed by specialist dermatologist Dr Wong Su-Ni at Mount Elizabeth. Includes dermoscopic assessment of the mole prior to removal, with histopathology available.

Mole removal at Dr SN Wong Skin Clinic is a dermatologist-performed procedure, with each case assessed and treated by Dr Wong Su-Ni — a Senior Consultant Dermatologist and FAMS-credentialled specialist with subspecialty interest in dermatologic surgery. Before any removal, the mole is evaluated using dermoscopy to identify features that may indicate dysplasia or malignancy. Suspicious lesions are excised with a margin and sent for histopathological analysis; benign lesions can be removed using the most cosmetically appropriate method — shave excision, punch excision, laser ablation (CO2 laser), or electrosurgery — depending on the lesion type, size, and location. The clinic offers all four main techniques, allowing the method to be matched to the mole's characteristics: CO2 laser is preferred for raised, non-pigmented lesions with low malignancy concern, while surgical excision is indicated for flat or pigmented lesions where histology is required. Post-procedure wound care instructions are provided, and follow-up is arranged to review healing and histology results where applicable. All procedures are carried out in a clinical setting at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre with full sterile technique. Dr Wong's experience at the National Skin Centre — where she previously served as Chief of the Psoriasis Unit and performed high volumes of skin surgery — underpins the quality and safety of the surgical outcomes.
