Type
Men’s Health Panel
Duration
30 min
A comprehensive blood panel covering men's hormonal, metabolic and general health markers — including testosterone, oestradiol, LH, FSH, SHBG, fasting glucose, lipids, liver and kidney function, full blood count and PSA — used to guide treatment decisions and monitor ongoing therapy.
The men's hormone health panel at Dr Tan Medical Center is the diagnostic foundation for the clinic's treatment programmes and is recommended for any man presenting with symptoms of hormonal imbalance, fatigue, reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, mood changes, difficulty maintaining muscle or unexplained weight gain. Dr Tan takes the view that effective hormonal treatment is impossible without a clear, comprehensive baseline. The panel is therefore designed to capture the full picture rather than testing testosterone in isolation. On the hormonal axis, the panel measures total testosterone, free testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), luteinising hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin and oestradiol. These markers together reveal not only absolute testosterone levels but also the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, allowing the doctor to determine whether low testosterone is primary (testicular failure) or secondary (pituitary or hypothalamic in origin) — a distinction that matters for treatment planning. Metabolic markers are included because hormonal and metabolic health are deeply intertwined in men. Fasting glucose and HbA1c assess insulin sensitivity and diabetes risk; a full lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides) evaluates cardiovascular risk. Liver enzymes (ALT, AST, GGT) and creatinine with eGFR assess organ function, both as baseline parameters and as safety monitoring for patients on medications. A full blood count checks for anaemia, polycythaemia or other haematological abnormalities that may be symptomatic or treatment-relevant. For men over 40 or those initiating TRT, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is included as a prostate health baseline and ongoing safety marker. Thyroid function (TSH, free T3, free T4) may be added for patients presenting with fatigue, weight gain or mood symptoms with a possible thyroid component. Blood is collected in clinic and results are typically available within one to three working days, followed by a consultation in which Dr Tan explains each marker in plain language and outlines clinical implications and treatment options if indicated.
