Women's Hormone Health Panel

Type

Women’s Health Panel

Duration

30 min

A comprehensive blood panel for women covering oestrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, testosterone, thyroid function and metabolic markers — used to assess perimenopause, menopause, hormonal imbalance and guide HRT or other treatment decisions.

The women's hormone health panel at Dr Tan Medical Center provides a detailed assessment of a woman's hormonal status, designed to identify imbalances that may be driving symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal stress or general hormonal disruption. The panel is particularly relevant for women in their late 30s through to post-menopause who are experiencing hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, fatigue, sleep disturbance, irregular periods, low libido or changes in weight and body composition. The core hormonal markers in the panel include oestradiol (E2), progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH) and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). FSH and LH levels are particularly informative in perimenopause and menopause — rising FSH is one of the earliest biochemical signs of diminishing ovarian reserve, and together with oestradiol, helps the doctor stage a woman's menopausal transition. AMH provides an assessment of ovarian reserve that is useful for younger women with suspected early menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency. Testosterone is measured because androgens play an important, often overlooked, role in women's wellbeing — low testosterone in women can manifest as reduced libido, fatigue, poor motivation and low mood that may be misattributed to oestrogen deficiency or depression. Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is included to calculate free testosterone, as SHBG levels can vary significantly and affect bioavailability. Thyroid function — TSH, free T3, free T4 — is a routine addition given that hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism share significant symptom overlap with perimenopause and can co-occur, particularly in women. Cortisol, DHEA-S and other adrenal markers may be added where burnout, adrenal stress or fatigue is a prominent complaint. Metabolic markers including fasting glucose, HbA1c, insulin, full lipid profile and liver function tests round out the panel. These are relevant not only as baseline health indicators but also as safety parameters for women being considered for or already on HRT. Results are discussed in a follow-up consultation where Dr Tan outlines findings in accessible language and presents treatment options tailored to each woman's symptom picture and personal health goals.
