Dr. Adams offers full and mini abdominoplasty to tighten the abdominal wall muscles and remove excess skin and fat. The full tummy tuck uses a hip-to-hip incision with umbilicus repositioning, while the mini version preserves the navel position with a shorter scar. Surgery takes 3–4 hours under general anesthesia with two drains remaining for 7–10 days post-operatively and a gradual straightening recovery over 3–4 weeks.
Abdominoplasty — commonly called a tummy tuck — addresses excess skin, stretched abdominal muscles, and stubborn lower abdominal fat that diet and exercise cannot resolve, often following pregnancy or significant weight loss. Dr. Adams performs both full and mini abdominoplasty depending on the extent of correction required. The full tummy tuck involves a hip-to-hip incision positioned low enough to be concealed by underwear or swimwear, complete tightening of the rectus abdominis muscle wall, removal of excess skin, and repositioning of the umbilicus to a natural location on the tightened skin. The mini tummy tuck uses a shorter incision and preserves the navel's original position, making it appropriate for patients with more limited skin laxity concentrated below the navel — though Dr. Adams notes that muscle tightening is comparable between both approaches. Surgery runs approximately 3–4 hours under general anesthesia at the accredited Park Cities Surgery Center. Two surgical drains are placed and typically remain for 7–10 days. The recovery protocol involves wearing compression and maintaining a slightly stooped posture during weeks 1–2, gradual straightening through weeks 3–4, and frequent office visits in the first month. Payment is required at least two weeks prior to surgery. Patients from across Dallas, Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, and the DFW metroplex regularly consult for abdominoplasty at the practice.
