FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), also known as the strip technique, involves removing a carefully selected donor strip from the back of the scalp. This method allows a high number of grafts to be harvested in a single session and is associated with lower follicular damage during extraction, making it suitable for patients requiring larger graft counts. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) harvests individual follicular units through tiny circular punches or an automated machine-assisted device. This technique is minimally invasive, requires no stitches, and does not depend on scalp elasticity — making it ideal for patients who prefer a quicker recovery or shorter hairstyles post-procedure. Dr. Tan personally conducts the initial consultation and suitability assessment, explaining expected outcomes, recovery, and which technique best suits the patient's hair loss pattern, donor density, and lifestyle. Post-operative care includes daily dressing and shampooing for the first few days, mild analgesics, and scheduled follow-up visits. Patients can expect some swelling in the first few days, crust shedding within 10–14 days, a shedding phase at 1–2 months, and visible new growth emerging from around 4–6 months onwards.
