Facelift Miami — MVLift® Deep Plane

Type

Facelift

Duration

4 hours

Dr. Paul D. Durand performs the proprietary MVLift® (multi-vector lift), a deep plane facelift technique that releases retaining ligaments for longer-lasting, natural-looking results. Additional variants include mini facelift, midplane, lower facelift, SMAS facelift, and revision facelift. Procedures run three to five hours under general anesthesia or deep sedation, with incisions placed within the hairline and around ear contours for concealed scarring.

The MVLift® at Ensō Plastic Surgery is Dr. Paul D. Durand's proprietary multi-vector deep plane facelift — a technique that goes beyond surface tightening by releasing the deep retaining ligaments that hold facial soft tissue in place. Unlike a traditional SMAS lift, which tightens the superficial musculoaponeurotic system without releasing the osseocutaneous and osteocutaneous retaining ligaments, the deep plane approach repositions the entire soft-tissue envelope of the midface and jowl. The result is a lift that lasts longer and looks more natural because the vector of tension is placed on deeper structures rather than the skin itself. Incisions are placed within the hairline above the temples, curve naturally behind the tragus and earlobe, and continue within the occipital scalp, rendering scarring effectively invisible within natural hair and skin contours. The multi-vector design of the MVLift® allows the midface, jowl, and neck to be addressed in different lifting directions simultaneously — recreating the youthful three-dimensional position of the soft tissue rather than simply tightening in one plane. The procedure lasts three to five hours under general anesthesia or deep sedation and is performed in the clinic's on-site surgical suite in Brickell, Miami. Recovery typically involves visible swelling and bruising for two to three weeks; most patients are comfortable returning to social settings by week three and to full physical activity by week six. Ensō also offers mini facelift (less invasive, suited to early jowling and patients in their forties), midplane facelift, lower facelift (focusing on neck and jawline only), standard SMAS facelift, and revision facelift for patients seeking correction of prior results. Dr. Durand holds board certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic, and his aesthetic fellowship at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. He was named Teacher of the Year at Cleveland Clinic in 2018 and has lectured internationally on facial aesthetic surgery.
