Cryolipolysis works by applying a controlled suction applicator to the treatment area that draws the tissue between two cooling panels, then chills the captured fat tissue to a precise temperature between -9°C and -11°C for a controlled period. At this temperature, adipocytes (fat cells) are selectively damaged through a crystallisation mechanism; they do not burst or leak contents, but instead enter a controlled apoptotic cell death pathway triggered by the cold stress while the surrounding skin, nerves, and muscle tissue remain unaffected — as these non-fat cell types do not undergo the same cold-induced crystallisation damage as adipocytes.
