Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment at Ethos Aesthetics + Wellness uses the patient's own blood-derived growth factors, extracted via centrifuge from a 10–20 mL blood draw, for facial skin rejuvenation combined with microneedling or for scalp injection to support hair follicle health. PRP microneedling uses the open micro-channels created by the needle array to maximise growth factor absorption. PRP hair restoration delivers concentrated platelets directly to the scalp via injection. A course of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments at Ethos Aesthetics + Wellness harness the patient's own blood-derived growth factors in two distinct applications: PRP microneedling for facial skin rejuvenation and PRP scalp injection for hair follicle support. Both applications begin with the same preparation protocol: a 10–20 mL peripheral blood draw from the patient's arm, which is then centrifuged to separate the blood into its component layers. The resulting platelet-rich plasma layer — containing a concentration of platelets 3–8 times higher than whole blood — is collected and prepared for immediate use. Platelets are the primary source of a range of autologous growth factors including Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Transforming Growth Factor-Beta (TGF-β), Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), and Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF). When delivered to tissue, these growth factors activate a cellular repair and regeneration response: fibroblasts are recruited, collagen and extracellular matrix synthesis is upregulated, and angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation) is stimulated — all of which support tissue repair and renewal. For PRP microneedling, the prepared PRP is applied to the skin surface immediately following a microneedling pass that creates thousands of micro-channels at depths of 0.5–2.5 mm. The open channels temporarily bypass the epidermal barrier and allow topical PRP to penetrate into the dermis at significantly higher concentrations than topical application alone would allow; this combined approach is associated with improved collagen induction compared to microneedling or PRP alone. For PRP hair restoration, the concentrated PRP is injected directly into the scalp dermis at the level of hair follicle bulges using a series of fine injections across the treatment area; the delivered growth factors may support follicle health, prolong the active anagen growth phase, and reduce the rate of follicle miniaturisation associated with androgenetic alopecia. A course of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for both applications.
