Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is the next generation of autologous blood-derived regenerative therapy, succeeding PRP (platelet-rich plasma) with a slower centrifugation protocol that produces a fibrin matrix containing concentrated platelets, white blood cells, and stem cells in a gel-like consistency. The fibrin scaffold allows growth factors — including PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and EGF — to be released gradually over seven to eleven days rather than all at once, providing sustained cellular signalling that supports collagen synthesis, neovascularisation, and tissue remodelling.
