Glowlight Med Spa's PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) therapy uses a small blood draw from the client, centrifugation to concentrate growth factors and fibrin, and injection or topical application of the resulting autologous matrix to stimulate tissue regeneration. PRF releases growth factors more gradually than PRP, providing sustained skin rejuvenation. It is frequently combined with microneedling or dermal fillers for synergistic results at the Bellevue clinic.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is the next generation of autologous blood-derived regenerative therapy, succeeding PRP (platelet-rich plasma) with a slower centrifugation protocol that produces a fibrin matrix containing concentrated platelets, white blood cells, and stem cells in a gel-like consistency. The fibrin scaffold allows growth factors — including PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and EGF — to be released gradually over seven to eleven days rather than all at once, providing sustained cellular signalling that supports collagen synthesis, neovascularisation, and tissue remodelling. At Glowlight Med Spa in Bellevue, the PRF protocol begins with a small venous blood draw — typically 10–20 mL — which is immediately placed in collection tubes without anticoagulant and centrifuged. The resulting fibrin-rich layer is separated and can be applied in multiple ways depending on the treatment goal: injection into the under-eye tear-trough or midface for volume and regeneration, micro-droplet injection into the superficial dermis for overall skin quality improvement, or topical application to the skin surface during a concurrent microneedling session for enhanced transdermal delivery. The under-eye area is one of the most common treatment targets for PRF injections, since the thin periorbital skin is poorly suited to traditional HA fillers (risk of Tyndall effect and vascular complications) but responds well to the gentler, biologically active PRF matrix. Clients typically see improvement in dark circles caused by poor microcirculation, reduction of fine crepey texture, and mild volumisation of hollow tear-troughs over four to eight weeks. When combined with microneedling in the same appointment, PRF is applied to the needled skin immediately after the treatment pass, penetrating deep into the dermis through the open microchannels. Clinical studies and practitioner experience consistently report that the combined protocol produces better textural and firmness outcomes than either treatment alone, and Glowlight's team recommend it as the premium version of their skin rejuvenation service. Results last several months to a year, with retreatment recommended every six to twelve months for maintenance.
