Women are assessed for estrogen, bioidentical progesterone, and free testosterone; men for free testosterone and, where indicated, adrenal markers. All new patients receive an EKG to establish a cardiac baseline. Patients aged 40 and over receive bone density DEXA scanning (measuring hip and spine bone mineral density in approximately 10 minutes) and carotid artery ultrasound to screen for subclinical atherosclerosis.
