Liposuction and laser-assisted liposuction performed by Dr. Parit A. Patel, MD, MBA, FACS at the Plastic Surgery Clinic of Chicago to remove diet-resistant localised fat deposits from the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, neck, and chin. Available as a standalone procedure or combined with abdominoplasty, arm lift, or thigh lift for comprehensive body contouring. Dr. Patel also performs male-specific body contouring liposuction for chest and flanks.
Liposuction at the Plastic Surgery Clinic of Chicago is offered in both conventional tumescent and laser-assisted (laser-assisted liposuction) forms by Dr. Parit A. Patel, whose 20-year surgical career and FACS membership reflect established credentials in aesthetic body surgery. The procedure uses a slender cannula introduced through small discreet incisions to aspirate localised subcutaneous fat deposits that are resistant to diet and structured exercise — most commonly in the abdomen and lower abdomen, flanks and love handles, inner and outer thighs, the upper arms, back rolls, and the submental and neck area for double chin improvement. Tumescent liposuction involves infusing a large volume of dilute saline containing lidocaine local anaesthetic and epinephrine vasoconstrictor into the target fat compartment before aspiration. The tumescent solution firms the tissue, substantially reduces operative bleeding, and provides several hours of post-procedural local anaesthesia. Laser-assisted liposuction adds a laser energy component that liquefies fat cells prior to aspiration and, when applied to the overlying dermis from inside, may stimulate some degree of skin tightening — a useful adjunct for areas with mild skin laxity. Liposuction is most appropriate for patients who are close to their goal weight and have good skin elasticity in the target areas; patients with significant skin laxity alongside fat excess may require concurrent skin excision procedures such as abdominoplasty, arm lift, or thigh lift. Dr. Patel's practice explicitly lists male body contouring as a specific offering, reflecting experience with gynecomastia (male breast tissue reduction) and male-pattern fat deposits in the chest, flanks, and abdomen. Multiple zones are typically addressed in a single anaesthetic session. Recovery involves compression garments for four to six weeks, bruising and swelling resolving over two to four weeks, and continued contour improvement as residual oedema clears over three to six months.
