Microneedling — also called collagen induction therapy — uses a device fitted with fine, medical-grade needles to create thousands of microscopic puncture channels in the skin. These micro-injuries, too small to be visible to the naked eye and far too numerous to occur naturally, trigger the skin's innate wound-repair response: fibroblasts migrate to the treated area and synthesise new collagen and elastin fibres to close the channels, leaving behind a denser, firmer, more uniformly structured dermis. The skin surface heals rapidly because the epidermis between channels remains intact, recovering the treated area within 24–48 hours while the collagen remodelling continues for weeks to months beneath. At Klinika preventivní dermatologie microneedling is performed with a medical-grade device — a professional dermaroller with precisely calibrated needle depth, or a Dermapen motorised needling pen that allows the physician to vary needle depth across different facial zones. This clinical precision distinguishes it from over-the-counter at-home rollers, which use much shorter needles (under 0.25 mm) and cannot reach the mid-dermis where collagen fibres form. The physician adjusts needle depth based on the concern: for fine lines and general skin-quality improvement, 0.5–1.0 mm; for acne scars and more pronounced textural issues, 1.5–2.0 mm in the clinic setting under topical anaesthetic. Topical anaesthetic cream (EMLA) is applied 45 minutes before the session, which makes the treatment comfortable even at deeper settings. After the microneedling pass the physician applies a calming, hydrating serum that penetrates through the open channels for enhanced delivery. The skin then looks and feels similar to a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours, during which time a simple care routine — gentle cleanse, fragrance-free moisturiser, SPF50+ and no active ingredients — is followed. For best results the clinic recommends a course of three to six sessions spaced three to four weeks apart, allowing each round of collagen remodelling to mature before the next. Acne scars improve most noticeably over the course, with visible depth and texture improvement accumulating across sessions. Microneedling pairs particularly well with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which can be applied or injected into the channels immediately after the needling to amplify the growth-factor stimulus to fibroblasts — an optional add-on at 1,800 Kč additional.
