The ICON system combines IPL and laser modalities with the Skintel Melanin Reader, which measures the skin's melanin index in real time and automatically recommends the safest, most effective treatment parameters — reducing operator guesswork and improving consistency session to session. The ICON's advanced cooling system protects the skin surface during energy delivery, making it well-suited to a wide range of Fitzpatrick skin types. The Vectus diode laser adds a large spot size and sapphire-contact cooling, allowing rapid treatment of larger body areas — legs, back, chest — while keeping the skin surface comfortable throughout the procedure. Its diode wavelength has strong melanin absorption, making it particularly effective on darker terminal hair. Laser hair removal works by delivering concentrated light energy that is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicle. The heat generated disrupts the follicle's ability to produce new hair without damaging the surrounding skin. Because only actively growing follicles can be targeted at any one time, a course of six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is needed to address all follicles across their natural growth cycles. Light, grey, blonde or red hair contains insufficient melanin for effective laser targeting, so a consultation is recommended to confirm candidacy before booking.
