Fat-dissolving injections, or injectable lipolysis, use an Aqualyx solution placed directly into a localised pocket of fat. The active ingredient disrupts the membranes of fat cells in the treated area; the released contents and cell debris are then processed and cleared by the body over the weeks that follow, gradually reducing the volume of the fat pad. It is intended for small, defined areas — commonly under the chin or on the flanks — rather than as a weight-loss treatment. Because the effect is gradual, a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart is usually needed, with the number of ampoules and sessions tailored to the area at assessment. Results are associated with a modest reduction in the treated pocket and are best maintained with a stable weight, as remaining fat cells can still enlarge. The treatment suits adults at or near a stable weight with a specific, stubborn area to address rather than general fat reduction.
