IPL Hair Removal (IPL-SQ)

Intense pulsed light hair reduction using the IPL-SQ system to target the pigment in the hair, gradually reducing regrowth across the face and body. Areas from the upper lip to underarms, bikini, forearms, calves and thighs are priced individually. Because hair grows in cycles, a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart gives the most lasting reduction.

IPL hair removal uses broad-spectrum intense pulsed light, delivered by the IPL-SQ device, to reduce unwanted hair. The light is absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair shaft and follicle and converted to heat, which damages the follicle's ability to regrow hair. Because hair passes through growth, transition and resting phases and only actively growing hairs respond well, treatment is repeated to catch more follicles in the responsive phase over time. At Medycyna Estetyczna Legnica the area is cleansed and the treatment takes from a few minutes for the upper lip up to around thirty minutes for larger areas such as the legs; a cooling sensation and a mild snap are felt with each pulse. Afterwards the skin may be slightly pink for a short time. A course of several sessions spaced roughly four to six weeks apart is recommended for a meaningful, lasting reduction in hair, with occasional maintenance, and results are associated with finer, sparser regrowth rather than guaranteed permanent removal. IPL works best on darker hair against lighter skin; very fair, grey or red hair responds less well, and the clinic also offers light hair removal via the Nd:YAG laser as an alternative. Sun avoidance before and after is important, and the treatment is not performed over very tanned skin or in pregnancy; suitability is assessed beforehand.
