Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Treatment

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Platelet-rich plasma uses a small sample of your own blood, spun to concentrate its platelets and growth factors, which is then delivered into the skin to support repair and rejuvenation. Because it is derived entirely from you, it is well tolerated and is a natural option for improving skin quality, including the delicate area under the eyes. At MJAesthetic it is offered as a regenerative-medicine treatment, best as a short course.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a regenerative treatment that uses your own blood's repair components. A small sample is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, which carry growth factors associated with tissue repair and renewal. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the skin, or combined with microneedling, to work on tone, texture and firmness. At MJAesthetic the whole process — draw, preparation and treatment — takes around forty-five to sixty minutes, with numbing applied for comfort. Because the material is entirely your own, there is no foreign substance involved, which is part of why many patients choose it as a natural approach. Mild redness or small bruises for a day or two are normal. Results build gradually as the skin renews over several weeks, so a course of around three sessions spaced several weeks apart is usually recommended, with occasional maintenance afterwards. PRP is commonly used for dull or tired skin, fine lines and the thin, crepey skin under the eyes, and pairs well with microneedling for a stronger effect. The physician reviews suitability before treatment; it is not performed in pregnancy or where there are certain blood or clotting conditions.
