Radiofrequency Microneedling

Radiofrequency microneedling combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered into the deeper layers of the skin, aiming to tighten laxity and improve texture more than microneedling alone. The radiofrequency heats the dermis to support firming, making it well suited to early laxity such as softening jowls or crepey skin. Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling pairs the renewal-stimulating effect of microneedling with controlled radiofrequency energy released from the needle tips into the deeper layers of the skin. While the micro-needles prompt the surface healing response, the radiofrequency warms the dermis in a controlled way, which is associated with contraction of existing tissue and the formation of fresh support over the following weeks — giving a firming, tightening effect that plain microneedling does not achieve on its own. At MJAesthetic the area is cleansed and numbed before treatment, which takes around forty-five to sixty minutes. Expect redness and a feeling of mild tightness or warmth for a day or two, with little other downtime. RF microneedling is particularly useful for early skin laxity — softening jowls, firming the lower face and neck, and improving crepey skin — as well as texture and the appearance of some scarring. Because results build as the skin remodels, a course of around three sessions spaced several weeks apart is recommended, with the effect continuing to develop over the following months and maintenance once or twice a year. Suitability — including for people with certain implanted electronic devices — is assessed by the physician beforehand, and the treatment is avoided in pregnancy.
