Mild to moderate peeling is expected over three to seven days post-treatment.

Medical-grade chemical peels at Mosaic Skin Studio are a core skin-renewal service at the San Francisco Glen Park location, available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The peel formulations combine exfoliating acids — such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic, mandelic, or trichloroacetic acid at varying concentrations — with retinol infusion to accelerate cell turnover and stimulate collagen production simultaneously. Mosaic's nurse practitioners are specifically trained and experienced in treating diverse skin tones, and peel protocols are deliberately conservative for clients with Fitzpatrick types IV–VI, where inadequate post-peel sun protection or overly aggressive formulations can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that is more persistent and harder to treat than the original concern. For these clients, enzyme-based or lower-acid first sessions are common before progressing to stronger formulations. Common concerns addressed include dull, uneven skin tone; superficial post-acne marks and hyperpigmentation; early fine lines and rough texture; congested pores and comedonal acne; and mild sun damage. Peels are not recommended for active inflammatory acne breakouts; the provider assesses suitability at each appointment. Mild to moderate flaking occurs over three to seven days depending on peel strength. Daily SPF 30+ and avoidance of additional exfoliants throughout the recovery period are required.
