Lumecca is InMode's high-intensity IPL (intense pulsed light) device, and it is among the core light-based platforms at Motykie Med Spa on Sunset Blvd. Unlike conventional IPL systems, Lumecca delivers up to three times more energy per pulse in the 500–600 nm spectrum — the range most selectively absorbed by melanin and oxyhemoglobin — achieving greater targeting efficiency for pigmented lesions and vascular structures compared to older devices at equivalent surface fluences. The device targets three primary chromophore groups: melanin-containing lesions (solar lentigines, freckles, melasma superficial component, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), oxyhemoglobin in superficial blood vessels (telangiectasias, broken capillaries, rosacea flush, diffuse erythema), and the general photoaging profile of skin that has accumulated sun exposure over years. At the point of light absorption, the energy is rapidly converted to heat within the target chromophore — causing selective destruction of the pigment granule or vessel wall — while surrounding tissue is spared due to the selective absorption differential. Pigmented lesions typically darken over the following three to seven days before exfoliating, revealing clearer skin beneath. Vascular lesions often show immediate clearing or blanching that stabilises over one to two weeks. A single Lumecca session is associated with significant visible improvement in skin clarity and evenness for many patients, though two to three sessions are recommended for more substantial photoaging.
