These microchannels stimulate a wound-healing cascade — fibroblast recruitment, growth factor release, and new collagen and elastin synthesis — without removing skin tissue, making the recovery profile mild compared to ablative resurfacing. PRF (platelet-rich fibrin, $1,000 for 2 tubes) is derived from the patient's own centrifuged blood and contains a concentrated fibrin matrix rich in platelets, growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, and TGF-β, and leukocytes; when applied to the microchannels created by needling and rubbed in during treatment, the growth factors are driven directly into the deeper dermis via the needle tracks. PRFM EZ Gel ($1,100/session) is a further refinement — the PRF is processed to create a viscous gel-like consistency that can be injected directly into scar depressions or general tissue for a combined topical and injectable growth factor delivery.
