The VASERlipo system adds an additional step prior to aspiration: a grooved titanium probe emitting ultrasound energy at 36 kHz is passed through the tumescent fat, selectively disrupting the fat cell membranes through acoustic cavitation while preserving the surrounding fibrovascular matrix, nerves, and vessels. The emulsified fat is then aspirated more completely and with less physical cannula force than traditional technique, potentially yielding smoother skin contour and reduced bruising — particularly in fibrous areas such as the male flanks, upper back, and gynaecomastia. VASER is also favoured when body definition contouring (high-definition liposuction) is the goal, as the more precise fat removal allows the surgeon to sculpt around musculature.
