Acne management at Naaman Skin and Laser Centre is overseen by Dr Khoo Boo Peng, whose clinical background includes extensive dermatology practice in Singapore covering all acne severities — from mild comedonal acne to severe nodulo-cystic acne. The approach is evidence-based and medically grounded: an initial consultation establishes the acne type, severity, contributing hormonal or lifestyle factors, and treatment history. Management options span topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide combinations, antibiotic therapy (topical and systemic), hormonal treatments where appropriate (e.g., combined oral contraceptives for women), and — for severe or refractory acne — oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane), which requires specialist oversight and monitoring. For patients with post-acne scarring, procedural options such as ablative or fractional laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and subcision can be discussed at the same or a follow-up consultation. The clinic treats acne in adolescents and adults of all ages and skin types, including darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) common in Singapore's multiracial population, where post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a significant concern alongside the acne itself. Regular follow-ups ensure treatment adjustments are made as the skin responds.
