Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy using the patient's own blood to extract a growth-factor-rich plasma concentrate for skin rejuvenation, acne scar improvement, and hair loss treatment. A small blood draw is centrifuged to concentrate platelets, which are then reinjected or microneedled into the target area to stimulate tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and follicle regeneration.
Nitai Medical and Cosmetic Centre offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy as both a standalone aesthetic treatment and an adjunct to other procedures including microneedling, laser, and hair restoration. PRP is an autologous treatment — derived entirely from the patient's own blood — making it a biocompatible option with no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. The procedure begins with a small venous blood draw (typically 10–20 mL depending on the application), which is then placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate its components by density: red blood cells settle to the base, a platelet-poor plasma (PPP) layer forms in the middle, and the platelet-rich plasma concentrate rises to the top. The PRP fraction is extracted with a syringe, yielding a concentrate typically containing three to five times the baseline platelet count found in whole blood. Platelets are reservoirs of alpha granules that release a cocktail of growth factors upon activation — including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) — that collectively stimulate fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis, angiogenesis, and tissue remodelling. For facial skin rejuvenation at the Nitai clinic, PRP is administered by intradermal injection across the face and neck or applied topically immediately after microneedling to enhance product penetration. For hair restoration (PRP hair), the concentrate is injected into the scalp across the thinning zone to stimulate miniaturised follicles and prolong the anagen growth phase. PRP is also used at Nitai for injury healing in a musculoskeletal context, addressing tendinopathies and joint conditions. Dr Singh assesses suitability and treatment protocol at the initial consultation.
