Dental crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic restorations that cover damaged teeth or replace missing ones. A crown (or "cap") encases an entire tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. A bridge spans the gap left by one or more missing teeth, anchored by crowns on adjacent teeth. Modern materials include porcelain, zirconia, and e.max — all designed to match the color and translucency of natural teeth. The process typically requires two visits: the first for tooth preparation, impressions, and a temporary restoration; the second for permanent placement. Same-day crowns using CAD/CAM technology (like CEREC) are increasingly available, allowing design, fabrication, and placement in a single appointment.
