Pulse Clinic Singapore's GLP-1 weight management programme offers medically supervised access to glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists for patients with obesity or excess weight, including those with associated metabolic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome. GLP-1 receptor agonists work by mimicking the action of the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1, which is released after eating. They slow gastric emptying, reduce appetite and increase satiety signals to the brain, leading to a significant and sustained reduction in caloric intake. Clinical trials have demonstrated that semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) can achieve an average of 15% body weight reduction over 68 weeks, with some patients losing considerably more.
