Type

Acne Treatment

Duration

30 min

Specialist-led acne treatment combining prescription therapies, chemical peels, laser, and light-based treatments to address active breakouts, hormonal acne, and post-acne scarring.

Raffles Skin & Aesthetics Centre offers a comprehensive, specialist-grade approach to acne management that goes significantly beyond what is available from a general practitioner. The treating dermatologist (Dr Christopher Foo or Dr Lynette Charlene Low Meiyin) takes a detailed history covering acne onset, previous treatments, hormonal triggers, diet, and psychological impact before formulating a personalised treatment plan. For mild to moderate acne, topical regimens are optimised — combining retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, or antibiotics in evidence-based combinations that minimise resistance. Moderate to severe inflammatory acne may be treated with oral antibiotics, hormonal therapy (for women), or oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane), the latter requiring careful patient selection and monitoring of liver function, lipids, and pregnancy avoidance. In-clinic procedures include chemical peels (salicylic acid, glycolic acid, TCA) to accelerate cell turnover and reduce comedones; blue light or pulsed-dye laser to target Propionibacterium acnes; and fractional laser (e.g. Fraxel, CO2) for post-acne scarring and textural irregularities. Acne scar treatment is one of the centre's specialties, with options including subcision, dermal fillers, microneedling RF, and ablative resurfacing tailored to scar type and patient skin tone. The dermatologist monitors progress at regular intervals, adjusting the treatment plan as the skin responds. This is the appropriate choice for patients with persistent, hormonal, or scarring acne who have not achieved satisfactory results through over-the-counter or GP-prescribed treatments.
