All procedures begin with a clinical and dermoscopic assessment to determine whether the lesion is benign or warrants histopathological review. Suspicious or atypical lesions are excised with an appropriate margin and sent to Raffles Hospital's integrated pathology service for analysis — results are typically available within a week and reviewed in a follow-up consultation. The plastic surgery team (Dr Darren Ng and Prof Walter Tan Tiang Lee) handles cases where cosmetic outcome or complex reconstruction is a priority — for instance, lesions on the face or areas requiring closure techniques that minimise scarring. Local anaesthesia is used for the vast majority of procedures, making them same-day outpatient interventions. Aftercare instructions and wound review are provided.
