PRP / PRF Facial Rejuvenation

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) facial rejuvenation using the patient's own growth factors to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce fine lines. Blood is drawn, processed by centrifuge, and re-injected or topically applied during a concurrent microneedling session to enhance penetration and biological activity. Sessions run sixty to seventy-five minutes including numbing. Results improve progressively across a recommended course of three sessions.

PRP and PRF facial rejuvenation at River District Wellness harnesses the regenerative capacity of the patient's own platelet-derived growth factors to stimulate skin renewal without the use of synthetic injectables. The process begins with a standard venous blood draw (typically 20–30ml), which is then centrifuged in a calibrated protocol to separate plasma layers by density. For PRP, a single centrifugation spin isolates the platelet-rich plasma layer — containing three to five times the physiological platelet concentration found in whole blood — which is then activated (with calcium chloride or thrombin) to trigger degranulation and release the platelet alpha-granule contents: platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). These growth factors collectively drive fibroblast proliferation, collagen and elastin synthesis, angiogenesis, and epidermal cell turnover when introduced into the dermis. For PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), a lower-speed centrifugation preserves white blood cells and creates a fibrin matrix scaffold within the plasma, resulting in a gel-like material that releases growth factors more slowly and continuously over seven to fourteen days rather than in a single acute burst — a delivery profile believed to produce more sustained tissue remodelling. At River District Wellness, PRP and PRF are deployed via intradermal injection to address fine lines, early volume loss, crepey skin texture, and acne scar softening across the full face, periorbital area, and neck; and as a topical serum applied immediately after microneedling to exploit the transient micro-channel access through the epidermis for enhanced dermal penetration.
