PRP/PRF Therapy
Duration
1 hour
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial treatment using the patient's own blood-derived growth factors to stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and support natural tissue regeneration. A small blood sample is centrifuged to concentrate the platelets, which are then reinjected intradermally or combined with microneedling. Suitable for skin laxity, fine lines, under-eye hollowing, and dull complexion. Minimal risk of allergic reaction as the material is autologous.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial rejuvenation at Schönheitsklinik Düsseldorf Dr Björn Behr uses a preparation derived from the patient's own blood to harness the natural regenerative properties of platelets and the growth factors they contain. The procedure begins with the collection of a small venous blood sample — typically 10 to 20 ml — which is then centrifuged in a closed-system tube at a calibrated speed and duration to separate the blood components by density. The resulting PRP fraction, which contains a concentration of platelets three to five times higher than normal whole blood, is isolated and prepared for injection. Platelets are the body's primary first responders to tissue injury: upon activation, they degranulate and release a complex cocktail of growth factors including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). When injected intradermally into facial skin, these growth factors stimulate fibroblast proliferation and activity, promote new collagen and elastin synthesis, support angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and accelerate tissue repair processes. The clinic in Düsseldorf offers PRP as a standalone intradermal injection programme and as a combination treatment with microneedling — the so-called vampire facial — where the PRP is topically applied immediately after microneedling to enhance penetration of growth factors through the micro-channels created. Indications include generalised skin quality improvement, fine line reduction, skin laxity particularly around the eyes and lower face, under-eye hollowing and dark circles with a vascular component, and scalp hair restoration (PRP for hair loss). Because PRP is autologous — derived entirely from the patient's own biological material — the risk of allergic or immunological adverse reactions is extremely low compared to exogenous injectables. A standard facial rejuvenation course consists of two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Mild redness and swelling at injection sites typically resolve within twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Results develop progressively over six to twelve weeks as new collagen matures.
