LED Red Light Therapy

Type

Red Light Therapy

Duration

15 min

Photobiomodulation therapy using LED panels emitting red and near-infrared wavelengths to stimulate cellular energy production, reduce inflammation, support skin health, and accelerate tissue recovery.

SPHERE's LED red light therapy sessions use photobiomodulation (PBM) — the application of specific wavelengths of red (630–660 nm) and near-infrared (810–850 nm) light to stimulate biological processes at the cellular level. The primary mechanism is absorption of photons by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which increases ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production — the cell's fundamental energy currency. This mitochondrial activation has downstream effects across multiple systems: enhanced cellular repair and regeneration, reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, improved collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts, and accelerated healing in muscle and connective tissue. Clinical applications of PBM include: accelerated recovery from sports injuries, reduction in joint pain and stiffness (particularly relevant for arthritis and tendinopathy), improved skin tone and texture, wound healing support, and cognitive and mood enhancement through neuronal stimulation. SPHERE uses full-body LED panels or targeted devices, allowing clients to receive whole-body exposure or focus on specific injury or concern areas. Sessions typically run 10–20 minutes. The therapy is non-invasive, painless, and produces no UV exposure, making it suitable for regular use. At SPHERE, red light therapy is available as a standalone session or as a complementary modality to be stacked with cryotherapy, cold plunge, or infrared sauna for a comprehensive recovery protocol.
