Thread Lift
Duration
45 min
Targeted PDO thread lift for the neck using FDA-cleared MINT sutures to address neck laxity, banding, and the loss of neck-jaw angle definition that develops with age. Biodegradable threads are placed under local anaesthetic to lift and smooth the neck skin and platysmal bands, stimulating collagen along the thread tract. Results last 12 to 18 months. Performed by StudioMD's board-certified physicians in SoHo and Midtown Manhattan — a non-surgical alternative to a surgical neck lift.
The PDO Neck Thread Lift at StudioMD specifically targets the neck region, addressing common concerns including skin laxity beneath the chin, platysmal banding (the vertical cords that appear in the neck with age as the platysma muscle edges become more visible), and loss of the sharp cervicomental angle between chin and neck that characterises a youthful profile. Using FDA-cleared MINT PDO threads inserted via fine needles under local anaesthetic, the physician places barbed sutures in strategic vectors to lift and anchor neck skin and superficial musculoaponeurotic tissue to a higher position. The MINT thread design uses a bidirectional barb pattern that engages tissue on both sides of the thread, distributing lifting force and reducing the likelihood of bunching. The neck thread lift is priced at $2,200 as a standalone procedure; combining it with the full face as a face and neck package ranges from $4,500 to $5,000. As with the facial application, PDO threads stimulate a collagen-generating foreign-body response: fibroblasts migrate to the thread tract and produce new structural collagen that replaces the dissolving PDO substrate over four to six months, extending the clinically visible result beyond the thread's own structural contribution. Results typically persist 12 to 18 months. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, involves no general anaesthesia, and requires no surgical incisions beyond the fine needle entry points. Expected post-procedure effects include mild swelling, bruising, and possible thread visibility or puckering during the initial healing phase, which typically resolves within one to two weeks.
