Mole Removal
Duration
30 min
Expert mole and skin lesion removal by specialist dermatologists using surgical excision or laser techniques, with histopathology available for suspicious lesions and Mohs surgery for skin cancers.
The Dermatology Practice provides specialist mole removal services delivered by fully board-certified dermatologists with expertise in both surgical and laser-based removal modalities. All mole assessments begin with a thorough clinical examination and dermoscopy to evaluate lesion characteristics — asymmetry, border irregularity, colour variation, diameter, and evolution — before determining the most appropriate removal method. For benign cosmetic moles and small superficial lesions, laser ablation (CO2 or Er:YAG) provides a quick, precise removal with minimal downtime and excellent cosmetic outcomes. For lesions with atypical features, raised or pigmented naevi, or those suspected to be malignant, surgical excision under local anaesthetic is performed, with the specimen sent for histopathological analysis by a certified pathologist. The practice also houses Dr Mok Zhun Rui, one of Singapore's trained Mohs micrographic surgeons — the gold standard technique for removing high-risk or recurrent skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma) from cosmetically sensitive areas such as the face. Mohs surgery offers the highest cure rates for skin cancer while preserving the maximum amount of healthy tissue. Post-procedure wound care instructions are provided, and follow-up appointments are scheduled to review healing and histopathology results. Patients with a personal or family history of melanoma or skin cancer are encouraged to undergo regular mole mapping and screening at the practice.
