Type
Hormone Testing
Duration
30 min
Comprehensive hormone and endocrine evaluation at the Broadway campus covering thyroid disorders, adrenal insufficiency, pituitary conditions, and hormonal imbalance screening. Testing includes thyroid panels (TSH, free T3, free T4), thyroid ultrasound and molecular diagnostics, adrenal function studies, and hormonal imbalance panels. The on-site Lifestyle and Metabolic Medicine specialty adds insulin resistance, blood glucose, and A1c assessment for patients managing metabolic or endocrine conditions.
Hormone testing at The Polyclinic in Seattle — now Optum Care Washington — is supported by a dedicated endocrinology department and a full-service on-campus laboratory, creating a streamlined pathway from consultation to diagnosis to follow-up at the Broadway First Hill location. Thyroid evaluation is the most commonly requested hormone service and covers the full diagnostic spectrum: TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) for initial screening, free T3 and free T4 for detailed thyroid function, and thyroid antibody panels to assess autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis. When imaging is indicated, thyroid ultrasound is available through the Broadway Imaging unit at the same campus. For complex cases, molecular diagnostics and fine-needle aspiration biopsy are offered to characterize thyroid nodules before any intervention is considered. Adrenal and pituitary assessments address less common but clinically significant endocrine conditions. Adrenal insufficiency workup, cortisol studies, and pituitary tumor evaluation are managed by specialist physicians who coordinate with radiology and laboratory services within the same multi-specialty building. Hormonal imbalance screening through the laboratory encompasses estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, FSH, and LH for patients presenting with symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, androgen deficiency, or polycystic ovarian syndrome. The Lifestyle and Metabolic Medicine specialty adds insulin sensitivity assessment, fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1c, and metabolic panel review — particularly relevant for patients with intertwined hormonal and metabolic concerns such as PCOS or insulin-resistant presentations. All hormone test results are accessible via the MyChart patient portal, and follow-up consultations can be booked with endocrinology directly or through referral from primary care physicians within the Optum Care Washington network serving Seattle, the Eastside, and surrounding communities.
