Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty at Weill Cornell Medicine addresses drooping upper eyelids, under-eye bags, and puffiness. The division's plastic surgeons perform both upper and lower blepharoplasty, choosing techniques that restore a rested, refreshed appearance while preserving natural eyelid function. The procedure is available standalone or combined with facelift, brow lift, or non-surgical modalities for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. The academic medical setting provides additional expertise in ptosis repair, post-trauma eyelid reconstruction, and tumour excision.

Weill Cornell Medicine's Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers eyelid surgery performed by fellowship-trained surgeons in a hospital-affiliated academic environment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and, where necessary, herniated orbital fat from the upper lids to eliminate hooding that impairs the visual field or creates a heavy, aged appearance. Lower blepharoplasty addresses under-eye bags and hollowing through transconjunctival or subciliary approaches — with or without fat repositioning — to smooth the lid-cheek junction. The surgical team evaluates each patient's orbital anatomy, skin laxity, and aesthetic goals before recommending a technique. Where appropriate, fat grafting to the tear trough is offered concurrently to restore volume and eliminate the hollow shadow that can persist after bag removal alone.
