Blepharoplasty (Upper & Lower Eyelid Surgery)

Type

Eyelid Surgery

Duration

2 hours

Dr. Zhuravsky performs both upper and lower blepharoplasty. Upper eyelid surgery removes or redistributes excess skin and fat via an incision in the natural eyelid crease; lower blepharoplasty uses fat transposition (not removal) anchored to bone to eliminate under-eye bags and hollowing. Both procedures allow return to office work within one week.

Z Face Plastic Surgery in Miami offers upper and lower eyelid surgery — blepharoplasty — performed by Dr. Ruslan Zhuravsky, whose training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery includes specialized eyelid work developed during his residency at Rowan/Jefferson Hospital and chief residency tenure. Upper blepharoplasty targets drooping or heavy upper eyelids caused by excess skin, fat herniation, or brow ptosis. Dr. Zhuravsky places the incision within the natural eyelid crease so that the resulting scar is effectively invisible once healed. Where appropriate, brow fat pad suspension sutures are used to address brow descent without a separate brow lift procedure. The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, local with IV sedation, or general anesthesia and takes approximately one hour. Lower blepharoplasty addresses under-eye bags and hollowing. Rather than simply removing fat — which can create a gaunt or over-operated look — Dr. Zhuravsky uses a fat transposition technique through a trans-cutaneous sub-lash incision. The herniated fat is repositioned into the tear trough and anchored to the orbital rim bone, simultaneously correcting puffiness and volumizing the hollow. A lower lid muscle suspension is also included to prevent post-operative lower eyelid retraction. Recovery for both procedures: most patients return to office work within four to seven days; on-camera professionals typically wait two weeks; sutures are removed at one week; and full resolution of swelling and bruising occurs within four to six weeks. Z Face is located in Aventura, Miami-Dade County, and serves patients from across South Florida and internationally, including a virtual consultation option for out-of-town patients.
