B-Orto's dental hygiene service uses the Airflow EMS system — one of the most advanced professional tooth cleaning platforms available — combining AIR-FLOW® powder spray for biofilm and stain removal with PERIO-FLOW® for subgingival cleaning of periodontal pockets. The treatment is gentler on enamel and gum tissue than traditional ultrasonic scaling alone, and is particularly recommended as preparation before starting clear aligner therapy and as regular maintenance during treatment.

Professional dental hygiene is a prerequisite and ongoing component of effective orthodontic treatment. At B-Orto, hygiene appointments are performed by qualified dental hygienists (Nikola Křivánková, DiS. and Monika Kyliánová, DiS.) using the Airflow by EMS system — a guided biofilm therapy platform considered the gold standard in preventive and maintenance dental hygiene. **Airflow EMS technology:** *AIR-FLOW®:* Uses a warm spray of erythritol powder, water, and air under controlled pressure to remove bacterial biofilm, plaque, and surface stains from teeth, gums, and tongue surfaces without mechanical contact with enamel or soft tissue. The powder is fine, gentle, and bactericidal — reducing soft tissue inflammation and providing a more comfortable experience than traditional polishing cups. *PERIO-FLOW®:* A subgingival nozzle allows the Airflow system to be directed into periodontal pockets up to 9 mm deep, effectively cleaning below the gumline where toothbrushes cannot reach and where biofilm accumulation drives periodontal disease progression. **Why hygiene matters for aligner patients:** Clear aligner trays sit directly over the tooth surface for 20–22 hours per day. Any plaque or biofilm trapped between the aligner and the tooth creates a sustained acidic environment that accelerates enamel demineralisation and increases cavity risk.
