About
The NUH Centre for Obesity Management and Surgery (COMS) is a multidisciplinary bariatric centre at the National University Hospital, Singapore's leading academic medical institution. The centre brings together senior consultants in surgery, endocrinology, and hepatology alongside dietitians, physiotherapists, and psychologists to deliver a comprehensive, personalised weight management programme. Patients are supported across the full spectrum of care — from dietary counselling, exercise therapy, and behavioural modification through to medical therapies and endoscopic or surgical interventions including gastric balloon, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric bypass for eligible individuals. COMS is led by internationally recognised bariatric surgeons including Associate Professor Asim Shabbir and Professor Jimmy So, and addresses obesity-related metabolic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnoea, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and subfertility.
